Job Description

Summary

This entry-level analyst role acts as a key contact between the state's network services team and various government agencies, helping to identify needs, secure affordable communication services, and manage service requests.

It involves building relationships with internal teams, agencies, and external partners while keeping everyone informed about infrastructure changes and projects.

A good fit would be someone organized and communicative with an interest in IT services and government operations, even without prior experience.

  • One year of professional experience for Departmental Analyst 10

Full Job Description

This position serves as the division liaison between Network Services and State of Michigan (SOM) Agencies as a Service
Consultant. The position works with DTMB and Agency Liaisons to serve as the agency’s single point of contact to secure
cost-effective voice and data communication services. Performs tasks that identify customer needs, document business
and technical requirements and assign technical resources for all service requests. Designs and maintains all forms and
procedures for the division. The Service Consultant works with DTMB Agency Services, Agency Telephone Coordinators
(ATCs), and other agency contacts to communicate infrastructure initiatives and projects that affect SOM Agencies, service
offering changes, end user instructions and other information necessary for the division.

This position maintains strategic relationships internal and external to the state, including the SOM agencies,
governor’s office, legislative branch, and suppliers.

Position Location/Remote Office: The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate.

Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.

Education and Experience for Departmental Analyst (Departmental Trainee) 9 (FOR CLASSIFIED STATE EMPLOYEES ONLY)

Education

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience

Four years of experience as an advanced 9-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.

OR

Three years of experience as an E9, E10, or E11-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.

OR

Two years of experience as an experienced level worker in an ECP Group One technician or paraprofessional classification.

OR

Two years of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.

OR

One year of experience as a second-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.

*Paraprofessional classifications are those requiring an associate's degree or two years of college.

Educational Substitution
College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.

Qualifications

Departmental Analyst (Departmental Trainee 9) 9 - P11

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
