This job involves supporting a state team that regulates charities in Michigan by handling paperwork like registrations and renewals, answering public questions, and preparing reports on charitable organizations.

This position serves as a Technician for the Attorney General’s Charitable Trust Section, which oversees organizations that hold charitable assets in Michigan or solicit charitable contributions from Michigan citizens.
Michigan charities hold tens of billions of dollars in charitable assets. The main activities of the section include: 1. Registering charitable trusts 2.
Making financial information about charities available to citizens, the media and other governmental agencies; 3. Registering soliciting organizations; 4.
Reviewing conversions, mergers and dissolutions as well as the sale of charitable assets by charitable organizations. The section also institutes investigations and takes enforcement actions in court.
This position will assist in the initial processing of all incoming correspondence to the section, will scan and log registrations, process annual renewal requests, create and run monthly reports, handle check logs and Charitable Trust citizen phone calls. In addition, the incumbent will also provide back up to the Consumer Protection section by filling in with phone shifts and being cross trained on Consumer Protection responsibilities to help during peak times.Education

Experience
Departmental Technician 7
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
Departmental Technician 8
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
Departmental Technician E9
One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.
Departmental Technician 7
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician E9
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
