This job is for an experienced dentist who will provide dental care to patients in clinics and schools, diagnose and treat oral health issues, and manage the daily operations of a county dental clinic.
The role also involves supervising dental staff, handling patient records, and ensuring smooth clinic administration.
It's a good fit for a licensed dentist with at least four years of hands-on experience who enjoys both clinical work and leadership responsibilities in a public health setting.
In clinical and school settings, examines patients, diagnoses dental diseases, recognizes medical conditions manifested orally, and renders appropriate treatments.
Performs a variety of intraoral dental services in the practice of clinical dentistry consistent with established standards.
Prescribes medications.Supervises dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants in providing appropriate treatment and care of patients.
Participates in the training and orientation of professional and support staff.Administers the daily operations of a clinic, including the supervision of staff, the maintenance of supplies, and the scheduling and receiving of patients.
Oversees the collection and handling of fees.Prepares and reviews patient case histories, and other records and reports. Consults with other health care providers regarding patient treatments.
Refers cases as necessary.Supervises the exposure and development of dental radiographs. Interprets dental radiographs.Examples of Other DutiesMay represent the County on various boards and committees.

Qualifications Required QualificationsGraduation from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association with a degree of doctor of dental surgery, doctor of dental medicine, or an equivalent, plus four years' experience in the practice of dentistry.ORPossession of a valid license to practice dentistry issued by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners, plus four years' experience in the practice of dentistry.Licenses and CertificatesPossession of a valid license to practice dentistry issued by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners is required at the time of appointment.
Possession of an approved CPR certification is required at the time of appointment.
Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.Proof of Licenses, Certifications and EducationApplicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position.
