BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education Applicants must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.

Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Licensure Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Applicants who meet the above basic requirements qualify for the GS-11 grade level. Medical Requirements Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color.

Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.

Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

You must meet all qualification requirements by the respective cut-off day of rating to be eligible for consideration. Major Duties:

There MAY NOT be immediate vacancies at all locations.

Primary duties and responsibilities for all Dentists include, but are not limited to: Perform comprehensive dentistry services including oral examinations, radiographs, routine, preventative and minor oral surgery.

Examine, diagnose, and treat commonly encountered dental diseases and dental health problems. Provides appropriate dental disease prevention measures for all patients treated.

Maintain all medical records ensuring all records are maintained appropriately and updated in a timely manner.

Provides patient education, counseling, and preventive care tailored to patients with diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Ensures patients understand treatment options, risks, and post-treatment care.
