Pay Schedule I, Grade 23, Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week

A vacancy exists in Clinical Services/Dentistry, Department of Health and Human Services.

Requirements

Under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist, assists and participates in the dental care of patients and in public health dentistry programs.

Under supervision, assists dentists in the direct care of patients in clinics, schools, and County dental facilities. Assists in the practice of four-handed dentistry.

Assists in the administration of various dental referral programs.Prepares patients for dental examinations. Places and exposes radiographs.

Provides oral hygiene instruction to patients.Prepares and maintains dental supplies, instruments, laboratory impressions, appliances, and equipment according to established standards.

Sets up and closes out clinic rooms.Schedules, receives, and collects fees from patients.

Assists in the preparation and maintenance of dental records, files, and reports.Examples of Other DutiesPerforms other related duties as required.(NOTE: The duties and responsibilities listed above are for the purpose of determining a common set of minimum qualifications for all positions in this class.

Qualifications Required QualificationsGraduation from a recognized dental assistant programOR two years experience assisting in direct dental patient care.Licenses and CertificatesCertification by the Dental Assisting National Board as qualified in general duties OR recognition by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners as qualified in general duties is required at the time of appointment.

Certification by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners to practice dental radiation technology is required at the time of appointment.

Possession of an approved CPR certification is required at the time of appointment.
