Under limited supervision, this position plans, supervises, and coordinates the provision of all Day Program services including all workshops, classrooms, and education services of OIDD-Midlands Center.
  • Directs the day-to-day functions of the Day Program department, including but not limited to providing supervision of Day Program staff.
  • Manages the operation of the Day Program at Midlands Center through staff leadership and activities associated the the Program Building, Workshop, Recreation, and Car Wash ensuring that consumers are receiving meaningful, appropriate, and stimulating work/activities in a timely manner.
  • Participates in the interdisciplinary team process for consumers to develop and provide the most appropriate active treatment for each individual.
  • Ensures staff training is timely and continuous to enable the ability to provide appropriate consumer services based on federal and state requirements, OIDD directives, and Midlands Center Internal Procedures.
  • Keeps Facility Administrator and Assistant Facility Administrator appraised of pertinent information.
  • Negotiates and procures contract work from industries for the sheltered workshop areas.
  • Performs and/or participates in activities/job duties as assigned by the Facility Administrator and Assistant Facility Administrator.


The position for this posting is located at Midlands Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Columbia, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and experience in human services, community outreach or a related field; or a high school diploma and relevant experience.

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities; skill in development of active treatment objectives/programs and implementation; ability to interpret federal and state regulations governing an ICF/IID facility; ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a variety of staff members; knowledge of management techniques; ability to use computer software to perform duties as needed.
