About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f.

Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.

This position is located at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) - Arlington, VA. CYBER EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITIONS ARE NOT SUBJECT TO THE TWO-PAGE RESUME LIMIT.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.

Specialized experience would be demonstrated by at least one year of applicable experience in collaborating with external partners to shape priorities in cyberspace capability development; integrating emerging technology and capabilities into cyberspace operations; and providing authoritative information on interpretation of regulations and high-level policy directives.

Major Duties:

  • Coordinates with partner agency counterparts to gain familiarity with the agency and understand its critical terrain.

  • Articulates Command priorities, capabilities, and intentions to partner senior leaders and advocates to the partner to address these in partner capability development.
  • Conversely, gathers partner priorities, capabilities, and intentions, articulates these to Command leaders, and advocates to address these in Command operational planning.
  • Advises DARPA Program Managers on Command technology priorities and collaborates with DARPA Program Managers on development of technology relevant to cyberspace operations, including cyber adjacent capabilities.
  • Communicates cyber capability needs and technology shortfalls to the partner.
  • Evaluates proposed technology paths and operational relevance and provides feedback to DARPA PMs.
  • Identifies and leads efforts to establish and capitalize on opportunities to improve the partnership.
