Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading the planning and strategy for cyber operations within the U.S.

military, working with teams from different agencies and countries to create and refine plans for defending against cyber threats.

It requires collaborating on high-level documents and analyzing outcomes to improve future strategies.

A good fit would be someone with extensive experience in military or government cyber planning who enjoys teamwork and strategic thinking.

Key Requirements

  • Familiarity with OPLANs, OPORDERs, and supporting annexes in cyberspace operations
  • Strong collaboration skills with SMEs from intelligence community and force providers

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA - JOINT FORCES HEADQUARTERS - DODIN.

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience includes duties such as providing expert operational-level consultation for the development or integration of campaign plans; or leading joint planning groups with interagency and international partners; or developing and advocating for organizational positions on cyberspace strategy, policy, or doctrine in joint or national-level forums.

All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Major Duties:

  • Leads joint planning and collaborates with interagency, allied, and partner SMEs to develop common understanding on issues affecting operational-level cyber planning and strategy.
  • Provides expert operational-level consulting for the development, review, and integration of cyberspace operations into OPLANs, OPORDERs, and supporting annexes.
  • Leads Joint Planning Groups and Operational Planning Teams to coordinate cyberspace force providers, the intelligence community, and other partners to refine operational plans.
  • Develops, advocates for, and represents Command positions on joint strategy, policy, and doctrine in national forums, authoring and assessing key staff documents.
  • Participates in post-event analysis to determine the success of strategies, recalibrate activities, and revise plans to account for evolving cyberspace threats and lessons learned.
