KANAWHA COUNTY
1 VACANCY

This busy unit consists of employees appointed and sworn by the State Registrar to receive, authenticate, and process all vital records including but not limited to birth and death certificates. Under general supervision works in the customer service unit of the Health Statistics Center. Open, date and sort mail. Enter orders for the mail request for certified copies of birth, death and marriage certificates through the order management system. Prepares certified copies with receipts for mailing after reviewing for accuracy. Prepares orders received through the Vitalchek system. Assists customers by telephone regarding status of orders. Serves or relieves as front walk-up office clerk providing face-to-face customer service. Serves or relieves as receptionist on the mail office phone for the Health Statistics Center. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Training: Graduation from standard high school or the equivalent.
 
Experience: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in bookkeeping, cashiering or related public contact work.
Substitution: Successful full-time study in an accredited college or university, or resident business or vocational school training may be substituted through an established formula for the required experience.
 
Special Requirement: Must be eligible for bonding.
