Full Job Description

The Colorado Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has four major operational divisions: Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and Veterans Affairs. These divisions utilize state and federal resources to provide our communities, State, and nation with a ready military force for national defense and State emergency response as well as providing assistance to our Colorado Veterans. Requirements

This position is part of our Army National Guard division and will work at Ft. Carson Army Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position will work as part of a team to support facilities on base with custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner. The work schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

cleaning, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, stripping, re-waxing, and shampooing a wide variety of floor areas and surfaces; dusting furniture and fixtures; washing and disinfecting washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, toilet partitions, mirrors, hand dryers, bathroom fixtures, and drinking fountains; replenishing toilet tissue, soap, and dispensers; emptying all waste baskets, garbage cans, and recycle bins into external trash and recycle dumpsters; cleaning entrances, common rooms, and meeting rooms to include tables, glass, walls, doors, hardware, sinks, counters, blinds, seals, and fixtures; performing and reporting minor maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment; reporting damages and/or acts of vandalism; clearing building entrances and exits of snow and debris; securing storage areas; ensuring cleaning materials and supplies are stored in a safe and orderly manner and adequate supply is available at all times; recommending cleaning supply replenishment that meet Green Seal standards and/or EPA Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines (CPG); operating a work vehicle when driving between facilities; and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum QualificationsSix months of custodial experience; in addition to the following:knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment;

  • knowledge of the workplace hazardous materials;
  • ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of cleaning chemicals and products; and
  • ability to work independently.
  • Necessary Special Requirements
    This position will require a criminal background check and a valid State of Colorado driver's license to operate a light duty truck between buildings.
