Full Job Description

This position is assigned to the Unaccompanied Housing at NAS Pensacola, FL. The purpose of this position is to supervise five (5) or more Custodial Workers and Laundry Workers.

Assist with all custodial and laundry operations for the Unaccompanied Housing program.

Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Requires one year of work experience that demonstrates knowledge of basic principles, concepts, standards, regulations and administration related to custodial and/or laundry operations.

Must possess basic math and reading skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing in English.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Major Duties:

Ensures security of all guests is maintained at all times. Ensures guest privacy is maintained at all times.

Must possess a welcoming manner and positive attitude, demonstrate effective communication skills, and professionally interact with guests, answering guest questions concerning berthing facilities.

Provide assistance in handling customer complaints, involving management as necessary. Working with input from the Complex Manager assigns daily duties to Custodial Workers and Laundry Workers.

Conducts daily inspections common areas, laundry facilities, storerooms and maintains written documentation of these inspections.

Ensures training on proper work methods and safety procedures is completed. Fully implements all safety, fire prevention, MSDS, and environmental/industrial hygiene requirements.

Coordinate with the Building Manager as to what rooms need deep cleaning. The incumbent is responsible for the security of all items in the storeroom and/or assigned storage areas.

Determines and places orders for cleaning supplies, and other materials or equipment needed by the custodial and laundry staff and ensures items are available when required.

Ensures equipment is properly maintained, stored, and accounted for. Investigates and prepares reports for staff mishaps/accidents.

Forwards completed package to the immediate supervisor in a timely manner. Evaluates performance, recommends awards and/or corrective/disciplinary actions.

Ensures all leave requests are in writing and approves/disapproves in a timely manner. Interview and recommend applicants for selection or promotion.

Must perform duties of custodial workers, laundry workers, and/or their respective leaders on an "as needed" basis to cover for staff shortages or other unanticipated occurrences.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
