The State of Iowa Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Custodial Worker to maintain the cleanliness and safety of our facilities.

As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a sanitary and welcoming environment for all who visit and work at our state facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Clean and Safe Facilities: Clean and sanitize various areas including offices, stairwells, restrooms, conference rooms, and common areas using a variety of tools such as brooms, mops, vacuums, and extractors.
  • Manage Work Requests: Efficiently handle work requests through verbal communication, phone, email, and our Work Order System, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and striving to complete all requests within 24 hours.
  • Detail-Oriented Cleaning: Dust, clean, and polish furniture, railings, counters, and other surfaces, ensuring a pristine environment.
  • Sanitize Restroom Fixtures: Clean sinks, mirrors, partitions, and other restroom fixtures, replenish supplies, and dispose of waste properly.
  • Minor Repairs and Safety Checks: Perform minor repairs to furniture and fixtures, replace lights, and conduct safety and security checks, documenting findings as needed.
  • Seasonal and Emergency Duties: Apply sand and ice melt to sidewalks and stairs, remove snow and debris, and ensure safe access to buildings during inclement weather.
  • Support Event Planning: Assist with reserving equipment and setting up for events by arranging tables and chairs.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Work Schedule:

  • Day Shift
  • Candidate will be required to work nights and weekends as snow events or other emergencies happen
