This job is for a positive and self-motivated person who has an eye for detail in maintaining the cleanliness of a large state office building. Requirements

As custodian, you will be expected to maintain the cleanliness of the restrooms, mop and occasionally wax the floors and remove all trash from throughout the building on a daily basis.

Work involves the use of custodial supplies and modern cleaning equipment, and may involve the moving and lifting of heavy furniture.

Experience with various cleaning techniques, supplies and machines is helpful but not a must.

Work is performed in accordance with a well established routine and is subject to inspection during progress and upon completion for attainment of established standards of cleaning and established standards of safety.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Hours may vary based on operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous custodial/janitorial experience
  • Experience as a custodian, janitor or cleaning person (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices, or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, buffing, etc.)
  • Experience collecting and disposing of infectious waste into proper storage areas
  • Experience removing snow, trash and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways
  • Experience using and mixing chemicals or solvents
  • Experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax and buff floors
  • Experience in the following tasks: Use of ladders to clean high areas, Changing light bulbs, Cleaning furniture, Mopping (wet or dry mop), Scrubbing, Dusting, Sweeping, Replenishing paper supplies and hand soap
