Summary

This job is for a lead housekeeper at a lodging facility on an Air Force base in Niagara Falls, New York, where you'll supervise a small team of cleaners while also doing hands-on cleaning tasks like scrubbing floors, washing walls, and maintaining guest rooms.

Full Job Description

This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Lodging Facility on Niagara Falls ARS, NY.

The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of cleaning tasks associated with lodging operations. This is a Flexible category position with no guaranteed hrs. May work up to 40 hrs./wk.

Scheduled as needed. This position is not eligible for benefits. Position requires working irregular schedules, to include weekends, holidays, and all shifts. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Ability to lead three (3) or more custodial workers to accomplish housekeeping assignments.

Must have functional experience and demonstrated knowledge of facility/equipment in housekeeping section and the ability to build teams and work with others.

Must have experience in the proper use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions. Must be able to clean and make adjustments to powered cleaning equipment.

Must be able to perform the full range of cleaning duties. Must be able to plan, coordinate, and time sequence steps needed to meet time constraints of work assignments.

Experience and knowledge must have been gained either in a military lodging program or commercial hotel/motel. Must be able to follow oral or written instructions and speak English.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:

As a working leader, performs the following duties: Distributes and balances workload among employees. Observes work in progress, production, adherence to quality and safety standards.

Instructs and trains new employees. Elevates unresolved employee complaints or operational issues to supervisor. Provides input on performance, progress, and disciplinary problems.

Reports all repair and maintenance requirements according to established policy. Reports all safety violations to immediate supervisor.

Updates computer database with room status, occupancy, check-outs and reports on housekeeping area. Ensures adequate stock of cleaning materials and equipment required to do the work.

Assists custodial worker in selecting and using cleaning agents safely and cost effectively and instructs them in planning sequence of work.

Performs custodial worker duties as time permits or as assigned by supervisor. Cleans guest rooms, storerooms, corridors, stairways, facilities and other areas.

Scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using heavy (industrial-type) powered scrubbers and buffers. Washes walls, using powered wall washing machine.

Vacuum cleans rugs, using heavy (industrial-type) vacuum cleaners. Adjusts, cleans, and oils these machines, and changes brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments on them.

Washes and replaces venetian blinds, and washes ceiling fixtures and room partitions, using ladders and scaffolds. Moves heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment.

Collects soiled linen and replaces with clean linen. Performs other related duties as assigned.
