Job Description

Summary

This job is for a housekeeper at a military camp on Hawaii's Big Island, where you'll clean rooms, bathrooms, and common areas, handle laundry and trash, and use various cleaning tools to keep everything neat and safe.

It's ideal for someone who is reliable, physically fit, and comfortable with hands-on maintenance work in a remote, scenic location.

No advanced education is needed, just practical experience in cleaning and basic equipment use.

Key Requirements

  • Knowledge and skills to clean rooms, corridors, stairways, and other areas using sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and polishing with light and heavy-duty powered equipment
  • Ability to operate industrial equipment for cleaning rugs, drapes, and perform routine maintenance on equipment
  • Experience cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing toilet facilities, dusting areas, emptying trash, making beds, and changing linen
  • Capability to wash walls, windows, blinds, and ceiling fixtures using ladders, scaffolds, and safety belts, and move heavy furniture
  • Understanding of proper uses of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions to remove various stains from different surfaces
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to perform demanding cleaning tasks and maintain tools and equipment

This position is located at Kilauea Military Camp (KMC), Hawaii National Parks, Big Island of Hawaii.. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Minimum Qualification Criteria: Must have knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties listed above to include the ability to use and maintain the tools and equipment of the trade, to keep the assigned work area neat and clean.

  • Cleans rooms, corridors, stairways, and other areas. Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, strips and polishes using light and heavy duty powered equipment.
  • Operates industrial equipment to clean rugs, drapes, etc. Performs routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Cleans, disinfects and deodorizes toilet facilities. Cleans, and dusts assigned areas. Empties trash. May make beds and changes linen.
  • Washes walls, windows, blinds and ceiling fixtures using ladders, scaffolds and safety belt. Moves heavy furniture.
  • Must know the proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions, and must be able to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of surfaces.
