Requirements

As a Custodial Worker 1, you will be performing routine manual tasks to maintain cleanliness in public institutional buildings and surrounding areas.

This role requires the use of professional-grade cleaning supplies as well as modern cleaning equipment and may involve such laborious tasks as moving or lifting heavy furniture.

Work involves following a consistent schedule and is subject to inspection to ensure high standards of cleanliness are met.

You will also be responsible for assisting with snow removal, maintaining a safe working environment, and reporting any problems or unsafe conditions to your supervisor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours biweekly
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:00 PM), rotating days and weekends, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Hourly rate: In some cases, the starting hourly rate may be non-negotiable

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Work experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices, or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, and buffing)
  • Work experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital
  • Work experience interacting with patients or residents while cleaning in patient or resident rooms or a dining room setting
  • Work experience cleaning bodily fluids and disposing infectious waste into proper storage areas
  • Work experience removing snow, trash, and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways
  • Work experience using and mixing chemicals or solvents
  • Work experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax, and buff floors
  • Custodial work experience in one of the following environments: activity or recreation room; bathroom, shower, or bathing room; cafeteria or dining room; entranceway, lobby, or common space; nursing station; patient or resident rooms; pharmacy; physical therapy rooms


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
