Summary

This job involves leading a team of workers on public works projects, such as construction or maintenance tasks, by planning the work, coordinating tools and materials, and jumping in to help with the hands-on labor.

A good fit would be someone with experience in construction or similar fields who enjoys supervising others, solving problems on the spot, and staying active in physical work outdoors.

It's ideal for a reliable team player who can handle daily reporting and operate heavy machinery safely.

Key Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least 4 years of related work experience in construction or public works
  • Valid Class B CDL driver's license (Class A preferred)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical and lift 25+ pounds
  • Experience operating light and heavy construction equipment (e.g., loaders, backhoes, dump trucks)
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • Direct supervision of staff and independent judgment in decision-making

Position is responsible for planning and leading the job site work effort including; coordination of materials, equipment and crew members.

Requirements

Plan and lead the job site work effort including; coordination of materials, equipment and crew members.
Functions as a working member of the crew, coordinates and leads the functions of the crew.
Works with crew members to encourage problem solving to create a better work product.
Reports daily production results and participate as a working crew member.

Qualifications

Skills and knowledge are typically acquired through a High School education or equivalent and at least four (4) years of related work experience.

A valid Class A CDL Driver’s License is preferred, Class B license required. Must pass a pre-employment physical. The ability to lift and carry items weighting 25 pounds or more is required.

May require basic computer operation skill. Operates a variety of light and heavy construction equipment, i.e. loaders, back holes, graders, dump trucks, asphalt paver, asphalt planer, and roller, etc.

Directs supervision of staff.
