Full Job Description

You will serve as a CRANE OPERATOR in the CRANE & RIGGING BRANCH, ORDNANCE DEPARTMENT of NMC CWD DET SEAL BEACH.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will operate cranes to move ammunition, missiles, heavy equipment, machinery beams, lumber, crated or packed material, and similar items.
  • You will maintain crane equipment, performing such tasks as replacing spark plugs and fan belts, and cleaning and lubricating parts of cranes.
  • You will provide and implement plans to ensure material handling equipment (MHE) and ordnance handling equipment (OHE) are certified, inspected, and tested in accordance with appropriate regulations.
  • You will receive, examine, segregate, process, store, and issue fleet returned ordnance materials of all types.
  • You will be a designated certifying official and provide testing and licensing services for personnel who will be operating cranes.
  • You will maintain crane history files in accordance with instructions.
  • You will ensure conformance to all specified technical requirements and safety of ordnance material and operations.
