Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying.

Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job.

Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.

The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is: I instruct other workers on less complex work methods; refer to manuals as a means in answering questions related to the duties and responsibilities of the position; and adhere to all safety standards.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Effort: Same as work led.

Exposed to extremely loud noise of diesel engines and muscle cramps/strain form long periods of operating cranes and other heavy equipment.

Leads and performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, materials and equipment that weigh up to 70 pounds. Working Conditions: Same as work led.

Work is performed inside and outside. May work in areas that are hot, cold, damp, drafty or poorly lighted. May work in bad weather in such areas as open docks or storage yards.

The work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy. May be exposed to cuts, scrapes, and bruises, falls from ladders, or injury from mechanical conveyor systems or other material handling equipment.

Hearing, eye, head, and foot protection is required. Major Duties:

  • Leads work operations to accomplish the safe movement of tactical and combat vehicles and crane operator duties.
  • Passes on to other workers’ instructions received from the supervisor, demonstrates proper work methods, and starts work.
  • Insures that needed material and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
  • Checks work in progress; checks completed work for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
  • Advises workers to follow instructions and to meet deadlines.
  • Provides information to supervisors on status and progress of work, causes of delays, overall work operations and problems.
  • Conducts additional on-the-job training required by individual employees.
  • Assures that safety and help to ensure that fire, security, energy conservation and housekeeping rules are followed.
