Requirements

This professional social service position is located in the Ongoing Services Unit of the Lycoming Children and Youth Services. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide the full array of child welfare case management services to children and their families dealing with issues of child abuse and neglect. Services will be provided for children residing in their home, as well as to children placed outside their natural home. The goal of Ongoing Services is to assist parents/ caregivers to develop and maintain the skills and abilities to safely care for and parent their children. When a child has been placed outside the home, the goal is to achieve timely permanency through reunification, or while utilizing concurrent planning initiatives, to achieve permanency through, Adoption, Permanent Legal Custodianship, Placement with a fit and willing relative, or in Another Permanent Planned Living Arrangement.

The extent of caseworker involvement and frequency of contact with the child, family, courts and other stakeholders, will be determined by risk, need, and level of service being provided. At times, this will require flexibility in working after hours or weekends to provide the necessary crisis intervention and support to families and their children. This position will be supervised by the Ongoing Services Supervisor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00AM to 4:30PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
