Job Description

Summary

This job involves investigating reports of child abuse and neglect, assessing family situations, and managing cases to ensure the safety and support of children and families in Crawford County.

It's a full-time role with a team focused on compassionate social services, including planning and coordinating help for vulnerable groups.

Key Requirements

  • Six months experience as a County Caseworker 1, or successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program
  • Bachelor's degree in social welfare, or a bachelor's degree with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences plus one year of professional social casework experience
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training including 12 relevant college credits
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including investigations, assessments, and case management
  • Pass a background investigation, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance
  • Full-time schedule: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday, with rotation for late shifts and on-call coverage; no telework
  • Pennsylvania residency requirement is currently waived

Requirements

This is advanced professional social services work within Crawford County Human Services, dedicated to safeguarding children and supporting families involved with Children and Youth Services (CYS) through investigations and compassionate service. Responsibilities include investigating suspected child abuse and neglect reports, completing diagnostic assessments, and providing comprehensive case management. This role involves planning, coordinating, evaluating, and authorizing services to ensure the safety and well-being of children and families.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
    • Rotation for late person and on call coverage.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: $45,354.00 and subject to union contract.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social services agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
