Job Description

Summary

This job involves investigating reports of child abuse or neglect, managing a group of cases, and helping children and families get the support they need by working with community organizations.

It's a full-time role in Potter County, Pennsylvania, with regular office hours plus on-call and after-hours duties, and it requires travel but no remote work.

Key Requirements

  • Six months experience as a County Caseworker 1, or completion of the County Social Casework Intern program

  • One year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency (if bachelor's degree lacks the specified credits)
  • Ability to pass a background investigation, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance
  • Full-time availability with 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM hours, Monday through Friday, plus required on-call, after-hours work, and travel
  • No telework option; must perform essential job functions including accurate record-keeping in statewide systems

Requirements

The County Caseworker 2 will investigate general protective services and child protective services referrals, maintain a caseload, provide support to children and their families, and work closely with other agencies within the community and around the state to provide necessary services. The County Caseworker 2 will maintain accurate record keeping in the statewide informational system.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • On-call and after-hours work are required.
    • Travel is required.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
