Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a caseworker to support children and families in Wyoming County by assessing their needs and providing social services to help those in vulnerable situations.

It's a full-time role with regular office hours and some on-call responsibilities, focused on making a positive impact through collaboration with local agencies.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences

  • Or equivalent combination: one year experience as County Social Services Aide 3 or similar paraprofessional role plus 12 relevant college credits
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including full-time in-office work (no telework)
  • Successful completion of PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance
  • Submission of college transcripts if claiming education (unofficial acceptable)

Requirements

This is a full-time professional caseworker position responsible for the provision of a full range of services to children and families in need of Children, Youth and Families' assessment and/or services. Located between Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, we have an array of social service agencies working in collaboration with our agency. Wyoming County commits to providing quality care and services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Additional stipend of $3,120/year for on-call hours.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
