Summary

This job involves leading a small team of caseworkers in Wayne County's Children and Youth services, managing intake for families in need, training staff, and ensuring everything follows the rules to help kids and parents through tough times.

Key Requirements

  • Or equivalent combination including at least 12 college credits in related social sciences
  • Ability to oversee 4-6 caseworkers, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations
  • Experience managing daily operations of an intake unit and handling a direct service caseload when needed
  • Skills in training new and existing staff on agency policies and procedures
  • Proficiency in developing policies, analyzing data, preparing reports, and contributing to annual plans
  • Meet Pennsylvania residency requirements, pass background check and drug screening, and comply with Child Protective Services Law

Requirements

This role encompasses a comprehensive array of intake management and social services aimed at supporting children, youth, and families. The ideal candidate will oversee a team of four to six caseworkers within the Intake unit, conducting performance evaluations and ensuring that staff adhere to relevant laws and regulations while delivering services. In the absence of caseworkers, the individual will be responsible for the daily operations of the Intake Unit and may also manage a direct service caseload. Additionally, the position involves training both new and existing caseworkers in line with the agency's policies and procedures. The incumbent will continuously develop and refine intake unit policies, assessing and recommending modifications to align with federal and state regulations. Furthermore, this role contributes to the formulation of the annual plan, which includes gathering and analyzing data and statistics, as well as preparing written reports for review by supervisory and administrative staff.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • On-call 24/7 on rotating basis. Irregular hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in public or private social work and a bachelor's degree with major course work in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
