Job Description

Summary

This part-time counselor role at Piedmont Technical College involves providing short-term counseling to students dealing with personal issues, helping those in crisis, and leading workshops on mental health topics like stress and anxiety.

It's ideal for a licensed mental health professional with experience supporting young adults or college students who enjoys collaborative team work in a campus setting.

Key Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent in South Carolina
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in a college or adolescent/young adult setting
  • Experience working in higher education or with diverse student populations
  • Ability to maintain accurate and confidential documentation per legal and ethical standards
  • Skills in crisis intervention and collaboration with campus safety and emergency services

Full Job Description

• Provide short-term, solution-focused individual counseling to students for 16 hours per week.
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
• Assist students experiencing acute psychological distress or crisis.
• Collaborate with campus safety and emergency services when necessary.
• Provide follow-up care and referrals to community resources.
• Serve as an active member of the college’s Behavioral Intervention Team.
• Design and facilitate workshops and presentations on topics such as stress management, anxiety, depression, suicide prevention, and resilience.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
• Current licensure in the state as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in a college or adolescent/young adult setting.
