This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) – Office of Mental Health, Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center, 250 Dewey Ave., Spartanburg, SC 29303.


Under general supervision of a mental health professional, provides culturally sensitive Psychosocial Rehabilitative Services to assigned clients with serious and sustaining mental illness. Assist in coordinating support services, participate in treatment team meetings, assist with evaluation and identification of treatment goals and observes and report behavior and progress. Service provided in a culturally sensitive manner.

Responsibilities for the Counselor II:

  • Provide culturally sensitive services of comprehensive community support, skills training and development, and psychosocial rehabilitation service to assigned clients.
  • Work as part of the treatment to provide daily PRS services to identified patients in TLC program. Provide additional coordination with CRCF, hospitals, community agencies/resources to meet the complex needs of the clients qualifying for enhanced services.
  • Maintain clinical records to Quality Assurance Standards and maintains compliance with Federal, State and Local Corporate Compliance Laws. Assist with prior authorizations as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences, workshops and required staff development and training.



Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences and professional experience in human services or social services programs.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plu

Post hire, employees must:
  • Successfully complete the Basic Fundamentals course with a minimum grade of 75.
  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
