Job Description
Summary
This job involves helping young people in the juvenile justice system who have disabilities find and keep jobs by providing counseling, creating personalized employment plans, and managing their cases.
You'll work closely with clients, employers, and other professionals to support their career goals.
It's a great fit for someone with a background in counseling or rehabilitation who is patient, good at building relationships, and passionate about making a difference in lives affected by disabilities and the justice system.
Key Requirements
- Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field qualifying under CSPD guidelines
- Ability to counsel individuals with physical and mental disabilities toward vocational goals using Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE)
- Strong communication skills to build and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, employers, medical professionals, and colleagues
- Capacity to apply logical thinking to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Experience or skills in conducting vocational assessments, career exploration, and job preparation
- Ability to manage a caseload, including weekly activities and coordinating services like job placement
- Valid driver's license with a clean 10-year driving record (required for interview)

In this position you will perform the following job duties:
- Prepare & assist eligible South Carolinians with disabilities to achieve and maintain competitive employment by coordinating services to include vocational counseling & guidance, job placement, and case management (Department of Juvenile Justice Caseload)
- Conduct and coordinate communication assessments, vocational assessments, career exploration, and job preparation instruction and design individualized plan for employment (IPE).
- Complete caseload management activities weekly.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Psychology or other degree qualifying under CSPD guidelines.
- Ability to counsel individuals with various physical mental disabilities toward a vocational goal through Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE) and consideration of the consumers' interest, abilities and needs.
- Should be able to communicate effectively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, vendors, employers, the medical community, and coworkers.
- Must be able to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Official transcripts will be required to verify college degree.
