This role involves stepping in as a substitute teacher at a technical college to guide students in cosmetology and barbering classes, following prepared lesson plans and helping with hands-on salon activities.
It's perfect for licensed professionals who love teaching, can adapt quickly to different learners, and enjoy creating a fun, supportive environment for students and clients.
You'll need flexibility for last-minute calls and strong people skills to build rapport fast.
Follow instructor’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate.
Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to the instructor’s lesson plans.Modify teaching to fit the learning styles of various students.Maintain a well-managed classroom and/or lab area and a positive learning environment.Supervise and assist students who are providing customer services at the lab/salon areas.
Requirements High School Diploma, a valid Cosmetology or Barbering license, and some industry and/or teaching experience.
Qualifications Must be certified with a valid and current Cosmetology or Barbering Instructor License, be skilled in areas pertaining to cosmetology and barbering and have a minimum of three (3) years experience in a professional salon.
Must also possess an outgoing and positive outlook and have good communication and organizational skills.
Additional Information Scheduling appointments for customers in person and on the phone.Tracking, completing, and filing customer intake forms with students.Flexible, friendly, and good at establishing quick rapport with students.Explaining and demonstrating Cosmetology/Barbering techniques in a classroom or salon setting.
