Requirements

As a Corrections Water Treatment Plant Foreman, you will operate, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, chlorinators, chemical feeders, compressors, laboratory equipment, and computer monitoring systems to effectively support the ongoing operation of a 1.2 million gallon capacity water treatment plant.

This includes performing daily laboratory testing, checking equipment calibration, and adjusting chemical dosages required for normal plant operations.

This role requires effective communication skills and the ability to work hands-on with inmates learning the standard principles and practices of water treatment plant maintenance.

You will also monitor gauges, meters, and sensing devices; update tool and toxic supply inventory records; and ensure all Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) regulations are met.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Wednesday - Sunday, with a paid lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). However, a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant.


Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators as a water treatment plant operator that is equal to or higher than a Class C with subclasses 1, 7, 8, and 11.
  • You must possess a valid Class E certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators.
  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.


Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
