Requirements
As a Corrections Officer 3, you will provide critical supervisory leadership to ensure all operations align with the policies and regulations governing the care, custody, and control of inmates. You will be responsible for planning and monitoring the duties of subordinate staff, conducting inspections of assigned zones, and documenting findings in a daily inspection report. Your role will include managing personnel through recruitment interviews, providing training to new staff, and conducting performance evaluations to maintain maximum operational effectiveness. Additionally, you will oversee the daily rhythm of the facility, including security, food service, medical service, recreational activities, and maintenance operations. You will be tasked with organizing all inmate movements, verifying periodic inmate counts, and conducting daily tours of housing units to proactively address concerns. Your security oversight extends to the institutional grounds and transport logistics, where you will manage inmate commitments and outgoing transfers. Furthermore, you will maintain the facility's integrity by supervising the search of visitors and the inspection of all incoming vehicles and materials to prevent the introduction of contraband and ensure a secure environment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours to be determined. Schedule is set partial weekends with an alternate work schedule (AWS) available.
- This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note: Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)
Other Requirements:- PA residency requirement
is currently waived for this title.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
