Requirements

As a Corrections Licensed Barber Manager, you will be responsible for providing guidance and instruction to inmate barbers in the practices, methods, and techniques of barbering, including providing barber services to the general inmate population.

Additional areas of focus entail providing training related to inventory, supply ordering, and scheduling, through classroom theory, demonstration, and on-the-job training.

You may also perform minor repairs on barber equipment and tools as necessary.

You will evaluate students' progress on a regular basis, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate documentation regarding attendance and wage reports.

It is essential to maintain accountability of inmates including students, workers, and clients while they are in or scheduled to be in the barber area.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience as a barber.


Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of an active Barber Manager License issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Barber Examiners.


Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the training academy in Elizabethtown, PA.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
