The Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated Corrections General Factory Supervisor to join the team at our State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Dallas.

In this role, you will oversee staff and inmate workers engaged in the manufacturing, production, and processing of goods and services within the Correctional Industries Garment and Mattress Plant.

Requirements

In this position, you will oversee staff and inmate workers engaged in both routine and specialized factory operations.

Responsibilities include providing orientation and training to subordinate staff and inmate workers reviewing shop rules, job expectations, and safety procedures to ensure a productive and secure work environment.

You will complete progress reports for inmate workers, counsel them on performance-related matters, and make recommendations regarding promotions or demotions based on overall job performance.

Additionally, you will supervise all stages of product design and development, determining the most efficient and cost-effective use of materials, labor, and equipment from initial concept through final production.

You will also monitor work in progress and inspect completed products to ensure compliance with established industry standards and quality control requirements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $58,273.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Corrections General Industries Factory Foreperson (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in the production of goods or services, which includes one year of lead work experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of lead work experience in the production of goods or services.

Other Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
