This job is for a lead cook in a military base dining facility, where you'll guide a small team in preparing full meals, manage kitchen operations, and handle food inventory and safety.
It's a full-time role with benefits, ideal for someone with hands-on cooking experience in busy food settings like restaurants or clubs who enjoys training others and staying organized.
Physical strength is needed to lift heavy items, and it's open to a wide range of applicants including veterans and spouses.
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Food and Beverage Operations on Ellsworth AFB. This position is considered regular full time.
You are guaranteed 35 hours, however, could work up to 40 hours. As a regular employee you are eligible to earn leave and other NAF Benefits.
Must be able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40lbs, and occasionally over 40 pounds. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Ability to lead three or more workers to accomplish cooking assignments.
Experience in and knowledge of food preparation principles and characteristics of food and of planning processes to ensure entire meals are prepared and cooked on time.
Knowledge of procedures to order, issue and store food. Experience and knowledge must have been gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity. Major Duties:
Provides day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments Prepares entire meals which requires coordination the cooking of several items with different cooking times and characteristics.
Coordinates Kitchen operations with the Manager. Performs duties which include the following: roasts, broils, bakes, fries, boils, steams and stews meats, fish and poultry.
Ensures that the worksite materials and tools are available; and ensures that employees follow security, safety and housekeeping rules.
Responsible for inventories, food tracking system, scatter sheets, food productions orders and cost cards. Propose menu cost changes based on price fluctuations and availability of food items.
Conducts on the job training of employees. Oversees Hazmat, Environmental, and Public Health program related to Food and Beverage Operations.
