About the Position: Serves as the Contract Support Assistant for the Engineering Division in the Directorate of Public Works (DPW).

Assists in the overall management and administration for a variety of construction and service projects.

Incumbent resolves various problems associated with the administrative and clerical work in performing the following duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Providing administrative assistance with construction or service contracts; and 2) Providing office support functions such as receiving calls, preparing correspondence, maintaining electronic and hard copy filing systems and using various office automation software to compile data and reports.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18.

Add the two percentages.

  • Administrative point of contact for all construction and service contracts for organization.
  • Conduct contract data and research studies to verify completion of projects and internal tracking requirements.
  • Develop and/or recommend changes to administrative policies and procedures through review of existing directives, regulations, and knowledge of the organization operating functions.
  • Maintain status logs and file control over projects until completion.
  • Prepare Purchase Request requesting action on awarded contracts and modifications.
  • Assure a contract and internal procedure actions are prepared and submitted in a timely manner in accordance with regulatory criteria and policy.
