Job Description

Summary

This role involves teaching hands-on healthcare courses like nursing assistant, phlebotomy, and medical assisting at a technical college, including preparing lessons, leading classes and labs, coordinating clinical training, and keeping student records up to date.

It's a part-time adjunct position focused on delivering quality education that meets state and national standards while staying in touch with students and staff.

A good fit would be an experienced nurse or medical assistant who enjoys mentoring others and has a background in caring for elderly or chronically ill patients.

Key Requirements

  • Current licensed RN or LPN with at least two years of field nursing experience, including one year in long-term care for elderly or chronically ill patients
  • Or, CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) with three years of experience in a similar field
  • Associate degree or higher, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience as a lab and/or clinical preceptor
  • Current instructor credentials for American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), or willingness to become certified
  • Ability to maintain current provider certification and instructor credentials
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with students, faculty, and staff

Full Job Description

The instructor is responsible for accurate and quality delivery of the current nursing assistant, phlebotomy technician, electrocardiogram technician, medical assistant curriculum or other related healthcare programs in its entirety as required by state and national standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to course preparation, lecture and lab instruction via various delivery methods, clinical coordination and instruction, student record keeping and maintaining reporting deadlines as required by all program governing bodies. The instructor will provide continuous communication to students, faculty, and staff. schedule certification exams appropriately and maintain current provider certification and instructor credentials.

Requirements

Current licensed RN/LPN who has two years of field nursing experience with at least one year in the provision of long-term care services for elderly or chronically ill patients. CMA with three years of experience in the same or similar field.

Qualifications

Associate degree or higher with equivalent work experience and also experience as a lab and/or clinical preceptor. Hold current instructor credentials for American Heart Association Basic Life Support and be willing to become a certified instructor if not currently.
