Full Job Description

Work will primarily focus on driveway culvert installations. Also assists with striping procedures, construction inspections and general surveying.

Requirements

  1. Inspects constructions methods and workmanship on new subdivision roads, bridges and culverts with primary emphasis on driveway culverts.
  2. Performs basic professional level analysis, recommends actions and may participate in the implementation of policies relating to construction activities.
  3. Receives calls from property owners and home builders regarding driveway culvert installations. Coordinates with survey crew and/or independently performs survey work to determine size and grade for requested culvert. Informs property owner or builder of installation costs, as requested.
  4. Documents and maintains required records pertaining to driveway permits and installations including maintaining a daily log of activities.
  5. Ensures that permits and applicable fees, if any, are delivered to Transportation Services and filed appropriately.
  6. Troubleshoots and resolves basic construction problems/issues including traffic control and drainage problems.
  7. Ensures compliance with any and all applicable laws, statutes, regulations and policies.
  8. May recommend and assist in developing changes to departmental policy regarding the Property Access and Culvert Policy.
  9. Performs inspections of subdivision construction and utility installation as requested by the Quality Control Manager.
  10. Assists the roadway striping crew in coordination with the Striping Supervisor and Quality Control Manager, as requested.
  11. Prepares special documents as requested.
  12. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma and one to five (1-5) years experience in surveying, road construction, and civil engineering or inspection procedures.

Basic knowledge of civil engineering, mathematics, engineering specifications, and construction methods.

Current Texas Driver’s License and good driving record.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk, climb, stoop, lift, push and pull. Daily exposure to loud noises, traffic, outdoor weather conditions and construction equipment.
