Full Job Description

SCPRT operates state parks, markets the state as a tourist destination and provides grants for parks, recreation and tourism development.

Job Purpose and Duties:

Supervises SCPRT's Central Maintenance and Construction unit as the lead jobsite foreman. Manages projects and staff with minimal supervision.

1) Responsible for supervising the Central Maintenance and Construction team, with a primary focus on historic preservation and construction projects.
2) Collaborates with the Historical Sites Coordinator and Resource Management staff on maintenance and repair projects involving historic preservation.
3) Assists in providing on-the-job training to team members across various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and other construction-related disciplines.
4) Assists the Construction Manager with project planning and on-site evaluations for upcoming construction and maintenance projects.
5) Practice and promote teamwork within the State Park Service, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
6) Oversees administrative functions related to Procurement Card (P-Card) transactions, including purchase authorization and approval.

Requirements

High School Diploma and five (5) years' experience in building and construction.

Additional Requirements:

1) Frequent in-state and overnight travel is required (vehicle provided). Work schedule is 40 hours per week Monday-Thursday. Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, and other materials, tools and equipment used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.
2) Licensed or competent in electrical, plumbing and carpentry trades. Should be able to read and understand written procedures and directions, understand complex building plans. Ability to execute work based on building plans. Capacity to write specifications for materials.
3) Must possess a valid S.C. driver's license.
4) Ability to obtain a Class "A" CDL within six months of being hired, agency will provide training.

5) Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Actual Job Location: Engineering, Construction & Maintenance -Field.

Monday-Thursday, 40 hours weekly.
