Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing construction projects overseas in Poland, where you'll inspect work sites, review plans and materials, and ensure everything meets standards and contracts.

It's a full-time role with the U.S. Army, requiring relocation for a 24-month tour that can be unaccompanied or with family.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in construction inspection and project management who is comfortable working abroad and dealing with contractors.

Project Management: Conducting inspection of work in progress to ensure compliance with plans. Technical Competence: Conferring with others, such as contractors, to ensure completion of work.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). In-Service Applicants (i.e.

current or former competitive service employee through promotion, reassignment, change to lower grade, transfer, reinstatement, reemployment, or restoration): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Planning and Evaluating: Preparing routine and/or special reports reflecting the status of construction progress.

Project Management: Conducting inspection of work in progress to ensure compliance with plans. Technical Competence: Conferring with others, such as contractors, to ensure completion of work.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and requests for changes to determine site compatibility.
  • Inspect materials and equipment received on-site for adherence to approved samples or shop drawings, rejecting items on non-conformance.
  • Analyze the results of inspections for compliance with standards, materials or contract modifications.
