Base salary range: $88,520 - $115,079

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working on Capitol Hill as a liaison between the Department of State and U.S.
Senators, helping to build relationships, communicate policies, and track legislative activities to ensure smooth interactions.
It's ideal for someone with experience in government relations who is skilled at analyzing complex issues and communicating effectively with high-level officials.
The role requires a strong understanding of congressional processes and the ability to advise leaders on political matters.
This position is located in the Bureau of Legislative Affairs, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Senate Affairs (H/SA). You will serve as a Congressional Relations Specialist for the U.S.
Senate who physically works at the Russell Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill.

NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience tracking, analyzing and evaluating legislative matters used to provide interpretive guidance and advise senior leadership.
Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Members of Congress, their staffs, and Congressional committees.
Experience communicating complex and/or sensitive information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
