Summary

This job involves managing and supporting the agency's computer hardware and software, including fixing issues, setting up custom systems, and planning for future tech needs in a wildlife department setting.

Hybrid/Telework- The selected candidate may be able to telework/work remotely up to one day per week at the discretion of the supervisor, but must be available to report to Olympia as needed.

This position is responsible for providing technical support for hardware and software deployments and troubleshooting, by providing technical assistance to junior support staff in the areas of hardware maintenance and system encryption for all agency assets.


Additionally, this position will develop the WDFW agency hardware standards by independently researching emerging hardware and software technologies, documenting processes and procedures to support the integration of new systems, and providing senior level technical support to other IT business units.


What to Expect-

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Configuration and Asset Management Administrator will be responsible for,


Fleet Management

  • Provide Tier 2 technical support for all WDFW IT hardware assets by troubleshooting hardware, imaging, BitLocker encryption, SCCM client, Enforcement program VPN solution.
  • Build and configure custom systems to meet agency needs.

    System builds include specialized Enforcement program systems, regional KIOSK computers for public use, conference room workstations, Enforcement program communication center workstation (WILDCOMM), licensing Point of Sale (POS) systems, Apple Mac computers and any other approved specific business requested needs.

  • Independently perform imaging, repairs, hardware upgrades, analysis, installation, maintenance, quality assurance, troubleshooting, problem resolution, best practice and/or consulting tasks for complex computing system, data access /retrieval for all agency desktop and mobile computers.
  • Independently create and manage computer objects and assign computers to the correct AutoPilot Group Tag.
  • Manage active and inactive computer objects within Active Directory
  • Manage AutoPilot Windows Device baseline deployments as they relate to Endpoint Manager Configuration Profiles, Script Deployments, Software Package Deployments, and other configuration items in Endpoint Manager.
  • Independently create and manage computer objects and assign computers to the correct organizational unit (OU) within Active Directory.
  • Manage active and inactive computer objects within Active Directory.


Asset Management

  • Manages hardware obsolescence by anticipating and forecasting hardware requirements necessary for the short and long-term resolution of support requests related to desktop and mobile computer upgrades.
  • Coordinates user/client requirements for computing services.

    Conduct needs assessments, integrate acquisition and collaborate with business units, IT associates, and outside vendors to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems required to fulfill business objectives and processes.

  • Manages hardware life cycle by identifying expired lease equipment and disposing of processed hardware.
  • Automate the discovery and management of all hardware and software components of asset inventory within the Agency infrastructure. Capture detailed records, such as the type of asset, make, specification and storing it in an asset data warehouse.
  • Provide senior level technical support and troubleshooting Microsoft BitLocker which is used to encrypt data on all agency computers and storage media devices by testing, analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving problems.
  • Monitor BitLocker encryption compliancy state, throughout the agency; generate reports on non-compliant computer systems.
  • Installs and verifies IT administration and monitoring client software on all Agency computers.
  • Enforce the BitLocker encryption policy set by OCIO policies.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated workflows in Power Automate.
  • Ensure workflows integrate correctly with Intune, Jira Assets, and other connected systems.
  • Update flows when APIs, connectors, or business requirements change.
  • Implement error handling and logging within flows.


Working Conditions:

Work Setting, including hazards: Work environment will be primarily in an office setting. Employee may be required to work in small hard-to-reach areas and lift up to 25 lbs.

Schedule (i.e., hours and days): Monday – Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, Schedule may be adjusted with supervisory approval.

Travel Requirements:This position will require some travel to remote offices and regional locations and overnight stays may be required. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Tools and Equipment: Standard Desktop Hardware, Laptops, Tablets, Telecommunications and Networking equipment and Software (CPU, MS Office, etc.)

Customer Relations: As requested, or directed, to ensure strategic plans around desktop support functions. Frequent interaction with Agency Staff.


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in information technology or equivalent working experience (may be gained concurrently with the below required experience)


and


Four (4) years’ experience in the following focus areas:

•Hardware/software configuring, testing, support and troubleshooting

•Antivirus, Bitlocker, or similar systems administration

•Active Directory administration

•Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and/or InTune

•ITIL based framework for IT service support/delivery

•Powershell and/or Power Automate

In addition to the required qualifications, our ideal applicant will possess one or more of the following:

  • Two (2) years of recent information technology experience such as consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, hardware or network infrastructure equipment, providing technical support in information technology.
  • A+ certification
