This job involves hands-on work repairing and building concrete structures like sidewalks, streets, curbs, and bridges for the City of Norfolk's Public Works department.
Workers spread, level, and finish concrete, prepare sites, use tools and equipment, and ensure safe operations in various weather and traffic conditions.

Department of Public Works Division Streets and Bridges is seeking a Mason to perform manual and some semi-skilled labor involving repairs or maintenance in the general construction, repair, and maintenance of city sidewalks, streets, bridges and other related duties.
The Department of Public Works builds, maintains, and operates the physical facilities that support and enhance the lives of Norfolk’s citizens, businesses, and visitors, including the City’s Storm Water System, Street Network and Waste Management and Recycling Systems.
The Department is comprised of 8 divisions that function collectively to make your commute safe and efficient, your neighborhood more attractive, and the streets and sidewalks clean and well-maintained.
Hiring Salary Range: $40,960 - $47,104
(Additional $5,000 CDL Stipend upon obtaining Commercial Driver’s License)
Signing Bonus: This position is eligible for one-time $5,000 signing bonus.
Preferred License(s) and/or Certification(s): Must possess Driver’s License. Must provide a copy of Division of Motor Vehicle driving record (obtained within last 30 days) during the interview.
