About the Position: This position is located at a commissary store within the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) system.

The incumbent performs Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) tasks at a store under general supervision, and is responsible for all CAO system and item maintenance affecting the in-stock position for assigned area of responsibility.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes working with automated ordering systems; performing inventories and maintaining product availability on shelves and backroom/warehouse.

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Collaboration Skills Inventory Control Technology Application Time in Grade Requirement: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.

Major Duties:

  • Works with the store stocking supervisor and crew members to integrate and maintain the Computer Assisted Ordering Technician system.
  • Interfaces with all levels of store management on Computer Assisted Ordering issues as needed, and deals directly with commercial distributor representative and vendor stocking representatives on issues affecting Computer Assisted Ordering.
  • Evaluates stock levels of all Computer Assisted Ordering categories daily, by physically reviewing the storage and display shelf locations, shippers and warehouse.
  • Accurately identifies phase out, deleted, and mis-picked products and processes accordingly.
  • Predicts fluctuating needs of the customer to proactively position the inventory of the store throughout the year.
