Basic Requirements for Computer Assistant: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring network systems to ensure proper operation of hardware and software systems; identifying computer hardware and software failures for analysis and resolution; and mitigating vulnerabilities on computer operating systems.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:
- Establish and manage user accounts and determine and maintain user privilege levels.
- Monitor ongoing operation of network systems to ensure hardware and software are functioning properly and that operational standards are met.
- Conduct evaluation and analysis of all computer equipment and systems to determine if the facility environment can provide for system requirements.
- Make recommendations for system improvements.
- Provide training and assistance and ensure information security and accountability for Medical Group computer equipment.
