Full Job Description

This position is located at: Community Recreation Division - Fort Hood The FMWR Community Recreation Division plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality of life for the installation's personnel and their families, providing services and activities that contribute to the overall mission of Fort Hood.

The Community Recreation Division offers a variety of services including: Sports, Fitness, Aquatics, and Outdoor Rec. Incentives and Bonuses Retention incentives will not be paid.

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Work experience directing/managing one or more DMWR Recreation Programs for a garrison, or similar civilian operation, for at least one year.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" : At least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in community recreation or a related field within Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) or similar environment.

AND Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating recreation programs. AND Experience in fiscal management, including budgeting, resource allocation, and financial reporting.

  • Through subordinate activity managers, is responsible for overall management of fiscal resources and direction of the Directorate, Morale Welfare and Recreation (DMWR) Community Recreation Division at a large garrison.
  • To include most of the following: Sports, Fitness and Aquatics, Extramural Sports, Auto Skills, Parks and Picnic Areas, Library, Entertainment, Arts and Crafts, Outdoor Recreation, Leisure Travel, and Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS).
  • Provides leadership and supervision, and communicates mission and organization goals to subordinates. Provides policies and guidance to ensure attainment of the established objectives of the division.
  • Directs, develops, and administers plans and procedures; implements regulations to provide for a comprehensive community recreation program widely recognized for addressing a broad range of interests and needs of the military community.
  • Reviews program priorities and develops five-year plan covering projected programs of personnel, funds, and facilities. Performs other duties as assigned.
