This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Asst Secretary for Community Planning and Development. Washington D.C.

is a potential duty location for this position; however, the Washington D.C. office is expected to relocate to Alexandria, Virginia.

Selectees may be required to report initially to Washington, D.C and later report to Alexandria, Virginia. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized Experience for this position includes: - Administering a community development or economic development program at the federal, state, or local government or at a lending institution or non-profit organization; AND - Developing program or organizational policies and procedures; AND - Interpreting, implementing, and providing technical guidance on special projects, policies, and regulations related to agency programs.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

This position is located in the Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD) of Disaster Recovery.

CPD seeks to develop viable communities by promoting integrated approaches that provide decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expand economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons.

The primary means toward this end is the development of partnerships among all levels of government and the private sector, including for-profit and non-profit organizations The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13.

If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

As a Community Planning and Development Specialist, you will: Provides support and assistance to grantees in meeting their community development needs in a comprehensive and consolidated manner.

Provide current and potential grantees with meeting application or submission requirements by being able to effectively communicate the requirements as established in handbooks, Program regulations, or other technical material.

Answers inquiries by letter or telephone and gathers information to respond to Freedom of Information Act requests relating to CPD programs from grantees, HUD, state and local and other Federal officials, and the public.

Preparing training, materials, briefings and other report materials for HUD staff and grantees. Monitors and evaluates CPD program performance.

Provides recommendations to eliminate audit findings, improve program performance, and develop innovative policy or procedural changes to enhance program performance or operations.
