Key Requirements

  • Ability to collaborate with committees, courts, probation officers, and other stakeholders
  • Flexibility for evening hours (up to 10:00 p.m.) and group facilitation, with a Monday-Friday schedule
  • Self-driven with a positive attitude and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Expertise in evidence-based practices and cognitive interventions for justice-involved individuals

Full Job Description

Hours: Five flexible eight-hour days Monday through Friday between 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Multiple late nights and group facilitation are required. Days off are Saturday and Sunday. Schedule will be determined by supervisor due to maintaining the efficiency of governmental operations.

What You’ll Do
As a Community Corrections Program Coordinator, you will:

  • Develops, implements, coordinates, and oversees cognitive interventions and treatment programs in our district.
  • Functions as a treatment/evidence-based practices expert for the Department.
  • Collaborates with committees and work groups based on expertise of different programming areas to plan and implement initiatives and projects.
  • Communicates and problem solves with justice-involved individuals and the people who support them.
  • Documents and communicates participants; progress with participants, the courts, crime survivors, the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, probation and parole officers, and other referral sources.
  • Researches, plans, implements and evaluates new and emerging evidence-based and promising interventions/programs and practices for justice-involved individuals in the community-based corrections setting.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
  1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field, and experience equal to two years of full-time work in a human services or criminal justice field.
  2. A total of six years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
  3. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes 18 months of fulltime work as a Probation/Parole Officer II or 30 months as a Community Corrections Program Manager in a district or a similar position in another jurisdiction or agency.
