Full Job Description

You will serve as a Combined Trades Supervisor II in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT, SHIP DISMANTLER SHOP (075) of PSNS and IMF.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO SUPERVISE THROUGH SUBORDINATE SUPERVISORS.

  • You will plan overall work assignments on an immediate and long-range basis in accordance with established schedule requirements taking into consideration available supervisor, workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools.
  • You will establish, assign, and explain work requirements to subordinate supervisor, setting deadlines, priorities, and sequences to be followed for work operations.
  • You will identify training and qualification needs of subordinate's effects on-the-job training, recommend personnel actions, and enforce disciplinary actions.
  • You will maintain liaison with key management personnel in all Shipyard departments, offices, and divisions, including Production Resources Shop Process Managers,
  • You will be responsible for the broad scope planning, scheduling, monitoring, and certification of work within the assigned zone.
