Full Job Description

This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service.
The Collections Manager assists the Registrar with the documentation and care of the museum's permanent collection. The Collections Manager's responsibilities include cataloguing new acquisitions and incoming loans, assisting with the creation of acquisition files and digitizing incoming acquisitions. The Collections Manager works with the Registrar to monitor environmental conditions and implement the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Policy. Reports to the Registrar. Works independently to complete projects on time with quality results.
- Assist with the basic intake and return of loan and collection objects.
- Create object, loan and exhibition records in collections management database.
- Participate in ongoing maintenance of collections records including database records, object files, conservation records and loan records.
- Track location changes in collections management database.
Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in museum studies, History, Public History, or related field required.
•Experience working in a museum, historical society, historic site, or similar institution.
•Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current museum standards and best practices for collections care. documentation, and cataloguing.
•Experience with the handling, cataloguing, and moving of artifacts.
Additional Requirements: - Proficiency with Microsoft office suite and collections management systems. Re: Discovery Proficio preferred.
- Experience working with digital cameras and image editing software including Adobe Photoshop preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage and balance multiple tasks and meet assigned deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others, as well as independently.
- Valid driver's license.
- Position may require overnight travel.
- Position may require employee to work evenings and weekends.
- Position requires routine driver duties.
- Position requires frequent stooping and/or bending.
- Position requires frequent lifting: 40 lbs.
- Position may be required to report to work during emergency situations.
