Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team that creates and embroiders flags, guidons, and other clothing items for the military in a government warehouse setting.

The role focuses on planning work, assigning tasks to team members, operating sewing and embroidery machines, and checking the quality of finished products before they ship out.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

  • Serving as the Supervisor of the DLA Troop Support Embroidery Team, overseeing personnel assigned to the Clothing and Textiles Flag Room.
  • Overseeing and coordinating all workload items within the production phase and the accomplishment of work by subordinates.
  • Conducting planning to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Utilizing single needle sewing machines, snap fastener equipment, buttonhole machines, and a variety of other specialized machinery utilized in the fabrication of flags, guidons, or streamers.
  • Determining the priorities, work assignments, methods, resources, materials, and supplies, schedules, and number/types of employees needed to meet production demands.
  • Inspecting finished goods prior to shipment.
