The Department of Environmental Protection is searching for a Clerical Assistant 2 to provide administrative/clerical support in the Wilkes Barre Office. This position will require a thorough knowledge of the Department’s Programs and functions, complex environmental issues and how the Department programs affect the public and the regulated community.

Requirements

Responsibilities of this position include maintaining the Regional Director’s schedule including daily assessment, monitoring and setting up meetings, appointments, conferences, etc. Prepares agenda and assembles necessary material as requested. Prepares and updates itinerary of Director, his staff and Program Managers schedules for Regional and Central Office. In addition, you will assist the Regional Director by proofreading and coordinating responses to the Secretary’s office for project specific briefs and budget briefings. You will serve as a point of contact for all program staff on weekly items to be submitted for the Secretary’s and Governors report and is the lead worker to upload those weekly items.

In addition, you will screen, route, and independently handle all calls and visitors to the Director’s Office. You will appropriately handle all calls and will communicate with public officials, local government contacts, citizens groups, etc., regarding inquiries and requests. Assists in the collection and distribution of information. Provides research assistance, as required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
